Remains of missing Vancouver Island man Ben Kilmer found

The electrician and father of two went missing on May 15. His work van was found on a rural road outside of Duncan, B.C., with blood inside and the engine still running.

Electrician and father of 2 went missing May 15 under mysterious circumstances

The remains of Ben Kilmer, the 41-year-old electrician from Cobble Hill, B.C., who mysteriously disappeared in the spring, have been found, according to his wife and the RCMP. (RCMP)

The RCMPhas confirmed that remains found last week near Duncan, B.C., are those of Ben Kilmer, a 41-year-old electrician from Cobble Hill who went missing under mysterious circumstances in the spring.

Foul play is not suspected.

Kilmer'swife Tonya posted an emotional letter on Facebook confirming the discovery.

She says on Oct. 17 the RCMPcame to her house to informher that a hiker had found her husband's body ina remote area near the Chemainus River.

Kilmer'swork van was found abandoned onCowichanLake Road, west of Duncan on the afternoon of May 15. The engine was still running and a small amount of blood and his personal items werefound inside the van, according toRCMP.

The father of two was last spotted on surveillance video at a job site shortly before 11 a.m. PT that samemorning.

An extensive searcheffort led by friends and family turned up nothing. RCMPsay Kilmer'sbody was found well outside the original search area.
