A body was found Friday on a trail at the corner of a park near the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, police said.

RCMP received reports at about 2:45 p.m. of a body in the Pacific Spirit RegionalPark near SW Marine Drive and Camosun Street, Cpl. Peter Thiessen said.

Investigators were combing the area for evidence, and the RCMP Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was deployed to the scene.

"What we are dealing with at this point is a found body," Thiessen said. "It's unclear at this point whether there's foul play involved or not."

Police have not released information aboutthe age or gender of the body.

The park comprises 763 hectares of forest and foreshore west of Vancouver.
