Burnaby high-rise evacuated after fire breaks out on balcony

Officials on scene said the fire broke out sometime before 2:30 a.m., when some material caught fire on the balcony of a room on the 20th floor.

A highrise apartment in Burnaby was evacuated this morning after a fire broke out on the 20th floor.

Fire officials on scene said the fire broke out sometime before 2:30 a.m. at an apartment on Douglas Road, when some material caught fire on the balcony on the 20th floor.

At least a hundred residents were standing outside for nearly an houras crews fought the small fire and cleaned up inside. The residents were let back in to the building just before 3:15 a.m.

No one was injured in the incident, and the cause is currently under investigation.
