The previous tenants of the low-rise apartment buildinghad been ordered to move out by August 2022 by the owner, according to a statement from the City of Burnaby.

It said the building's developer informed the city it would be unable to pay rental top-ups for the evicted tenants, which is the city's policy when tenants are displaced due to major redevelopment or renovation.

"It's our understanding that the property is now for sale. Any new owner will be advised of their continued obligations to the former tenants under our tenant assistance policy," said the statement.
