COVID-19 outbreaks declared at senior care homes in 3 B.C. health regions

Three regional health authorities in BritishColumbia are reporting new COVID-19 outbreaks in assisted-living facilities and long-term care homes.

According to Fraser Health, five residents and two staff members have tested positive for the virus at Rideau Retirement Residence in Burnaby, while two staff members have tested positive at Surrey's Brookside Lodge.

Both locations are owned and operated by Sienna Senior Living.

In Vernon, one staff member and five residents have tested positive for COVID-19 at Noric House, according to a news release from Interior Health.

The announcement comes one day after an outbreakwas declared atHeritage Square in Vernon, where four staff and six residents of the long term care wing tested positive.

And Island Health says one resident has tested positive atChartwell Malaspina Care Residence in Nanaimo, where the outbreak islimited to one unit on a floor that's been isolated from the rest ofthe facility.
