Woman shot in downtown Chilliwack dies from injuries

A woman who was shot in Chilliwack, B.C. home on Tuesday afternoon has now died, police say.

Police believe attack was not random; no arrests have been made

A woman who was shot in downtown Chilliwack, B.C.,on Tuesday afternoon hasdied, according to RCMP.

In a statement, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) identified the woman as 42-year-old Christine Denham.

The shooting happened at herhome in the 9400 block of Victor Street around 1 p.m. PT.

Denham was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, anddied four days later, on March 1.

Police believethe attack was not random, RCMPStaffSgt. SteveVrolyk said.No arrests have been made.

IHITsaid there are no indications the shooting was connected to any gang conflict.

"IHIT detectives are working with the Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crime Unit to identify and interview key witnesses to determine a motive behind Christine Denham's murder," Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT said in the release.

"Anyone who knew what Ms. Denham was doing or who she was meeting with on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 is urged to contact IHIT immediately."
