Christy Clark addresses provincial controversies in year-end interview

In a year-end interview with CBC reporter RichardZussman,B.C. Premier Christy Clark says she remains committed to focusing on the economy.

Clark says a strong economy will enable the province to devote more resources to ministries likethe Ministry of Children and Family Development, which a recent report said neededmore funding.

"We don't have the resources to fix those problems unless we grow the economy," said Clark."That's the beginning of all the good things we want to be able to do."

Clark addressed several contentiousissues during the interview, including the possibility of increasingcarbon pricing following anhistoric international agreement on climate change.

"We're consulting about that now," she said. "The problem that we face is we want to make sure that we have the best most effective carbon pricing in the world, at the same time that we remain competitive."

Clark also spoke about the sale of cannabis in liquor storeswhich has been suggested in both Ontario and here in B.C.

"I'm open to ideas. We'll wait to see what federal legislation will look like," she said."That's our starting point and then we'll figure out how to regulate it."

Clark also discussed the LNG industry.
