Compass Card users can now buy their monthlytransit passes for November, says TransLink, and soon they'll be able to do so at more locations.

By Nov. 1, the new fare card system will be available to purchase at all ofTransLink'sFareDealer locations, like Safeway and 7-Eleven.

Currently, Compass Cards and fares are available for purchase in the following ways:

  • TransLink's website.
  • By phoning TransLink.
  • In person at the Compass Customer Service Centre at the Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrainstation.
  • Compass Vending Machines at mostSkyTrain stations.
  • Compass Vending Machines at select London Drugs stores (18 Lower Mainland locations).

TransLink'sothersystem of FareSaver cards is stillavailable.

The transportation authority said more than 250,000 people are already using Compass Cards, and that number is expected to increase as they become more widely available.

The $194-million Compass Card system has been fraught with problems for more thantwo years. The system was originally scheduled to launch in September 2013.

In October, TransLinkintroduced one-zone fares for bus ridersto mitigate further delays.Compass Card holders no longer need to tap out as they get off the bus.

TransLink says the one-zone fare system for buses is just a temporary measure until itdoes more consultations next year.
