CP trains collide near Golden derailing cars

The Transportation Safety Board has been called to Golden after a collision between two CP Rail trains early this morning.

The Transportation Safety Board has been called to Golden after a collision between two CP Rail trains early Sunday.

Spokesman Chris Krepskisays the trains contacted each other on a railwaysiding.

"There was a train travelling east on the main track which struck a train that was in a siding, Krepski said."

"The eastbound train derailed thetwo head-end locomotives and one car which was an empty potash car. The other trainderailed the last car, which was a loaded non-dangerous goods car. Everything derailed upright."

CP says no one was injured and there are no public safety issues.

It says the derailment happened around 2:30 a.m. PT, 50 kilometres west of Golden.

TSB investigators are now on scene.
