Crown seeks 'high risk accused' status for Allan Schoenborn

The B.C. governmentis seeking to haveAllan Schoenborn, who was found "not criminally responsible" for killing his three children, designated a "high risk accused".

The new designation is possible under BillC-14amendments made to the Criminal Code last year.

Speaking for DarcieClarke, the mother of Shoenborn'svictims, spokesman DaveTeixeiratold CBC in a phone interview,"The family is ecstatic that the crown is now moving forward with what we all know to be true."

Teixeira says having Shoenborndeemed "high risk" would hopefullyend the verystressfulyearly detention review process.

"High risk accused" status would extend Schoenborn's reviewperiod toonce every three years.

"What happens now is that as soon as the review is over, the family and Allan Schoenborn;they're gearing up to go into battle again in a year's time," said Teixiera.

Additionally, "high risk" would strictly limit Schoenborn's ability for community visits outside the ForensicPsychiatric Hospital in Coquitlam where he is incarcerated.

Currently Schoenbornis allowed out into the community on escortedday passes.

A first appearance courtdate is scheduled for September 10th in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster.
