Deal reached to sell Grouse Mountain

In a matter of days, one of B.C.'s most popular ski resorts is expected to have a new owner.

A spokesperson for Grouse Mountain Resorts confirmed Friday that an agreement has been reached to sell the resort, pending a transaction.

Few details are being released, including who the new owner is. Spokesperson Julia Grant said that while the transaction is being finalized, they can't release any information.

Grant said the sale will see no changes to staff, management or operations.

Grouse mountain sees 1.3 million visitors annually. Its operations include 26 runs, four chair lifts, a disc golf course and agondola.

The land owned byGrouse Mountain Resortsdoes not include the Grouse Grind, a popular hiking trail that leads to the mountain.

The McLaughlin family based out of Vancouver purchased total control of Grouse Mountain in 1989, but have been overseeing operations since 1974.

It announced in September of 2016 that it was putting the resort on the market.
