Two deli salads sold to restaurants in B.C. are being recalled because they may be contaminated with Listeria.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says Reser's Fine Foods is recalling Classic SYSCO brand Elbow Macaroni Salad and Reser's brand Deviled Egg Potato Salad.

The recall affects salads sold in B.C. to hotels, restaurants and institutions in 3.63 kilogram containers. The macaroni salad has a best-before date of May 7 while the best-before date on the potato salad is April 28.

A statement on the Reser's website says a total of 19 types of salad in a wide range of sizes were recalled in the U.S. "due to notification from one of our ingredient suppliers that Listeria monocytogenes may be present in one lot of onions that was used in the manufacture of these salads."

No illnesses have been linked to either salad, but officials say they should be thrown out or returned to the supplier.

The company issued a similar recall for its deli salads in 2013.

The CFIA warns food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.
