Dolphin superpod caught on video in Haro Strait, B.C.

More than 1,000 Pacific white-sided dolphins have been filmed swimming in B.C.'s Haro Strait, less than a week after a similar sighting off the province's Gulf Islands.

CBC viewer Joshua Landry caught the incredible sight on video while he and a few friends towed his sailboat through Haro Strait from Pender Island to Sidney on Vancouver Island.

Landry who filmed both closeup and landscape footage of the dolphins said the pod stretched more than a kilometre across and the animals swarmed around the boat for about 20 minutes.

Dolphins are known to sometimes swim in large groups,but usually in more open waters.The Department of Fisheries and Oceans says it's possible it's the same superpod seen last week.
