Man charged with 1st-degree murder in Downtown Eastside shooting

Vancouver police say a 28-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after shooting a man in the Downtown Eastside in August.

Vancouver police say a 28-year-old man has been charged in the shooting death in August of aman onthe Downtown Eastside.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has charged Felix Edmond Moro with one count of first-degree murder in the deathof 43-year-old Terry Bachtis, police said.

Officers responded to a call at East Cordova and Carrall streets just before 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 29after Bachtis was shot, according to police.First responders tried to save the man, but he died atthe scene before he could be taken to hospital.

Police say they arrested Moro Wednesday night in the Downtown Eastside after an investigation by the VPD Homicide Unit. It's not clear if the suspect and victim knew each other.

Moro remains in custody.
