Pedestrian killed by car that jumped curb after crash in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside

One person is dead after two vehicles collided in the middle of an intersection on Thursday, causing one of them to mount the sidewalk and crash into a corner store in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.

One person is dead after two vehicles collided in the middle of an intersection on Thursday, causing one of them to crash into a corner store in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.

A pedestrian on the sidewalk waskilled when the car jumped the curb aftercrashing into another vehicle at East Hastings and Columbia streets at about 10:50 a.m. PT., police said.

The car came to a stop after ramming into theVancity Corner Store on East Hastings.First responders tried to save the pedestrian'slife, but they were unsuccessful, according to police.

Both drivers involved in thecollision remained at the scene, the Vancouver Police Departmentsaid. They are investigating the incident. No further information has been released about the cause of the crash.

Investigators are asking for witnesses and drivers with dash-cam video to call 604-717-3012.
