Woman hit by 2 cars dies in East Vancouver

Vancouver Police are investigating the city's third pedestrian fatality of 2016 after a woman was hit by two cars Tuesday night in East Vancouver.

The drivers remained on scene and are cooperating, say Vancouver Police

Vancouver Police are investigating the city's third pedestrian fatality of 2016 after awoman was hit by two cars Tuesday night in East Vancouver.

"A51 year old woman was crossing East41stAve in area ofKerrStreet mid-block when she was hit by aneastbound vehicle," said Sgt. Randy Fincham of the VPD. "Unfortunatelyafter being hit by the eastbound vehicle she was pushed into the westbound lane where she was also struck bya car.She was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The drivers of both cars remained on scene and are cooperating with police.

"It does appear that the location of the woman crossing mid-block ... possibly did lead up to the collision," said Fincham. "It was 9:30 last night. It was fairly dark in thatarea."

Fincham saysthePolice Collision Investigation Unit was called to the scene, and closed off East 41st Avenue from Rupert Street to Kingsway for close to 3 hours.
