An Abbotsford family is asking for help in identifying the car and driver who struck an elderly couple in a June 1hit-and-run.

Brenda Golden says her82-year-old father and78-year-old mother are both struggling with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

They were struck in the 2200 block of Clearbrook Road at around 10:15 p.m. PT, while crossing the road mid-block to get to their apartment.

"To my dad it looked like the car sped up," said Golden. "My mom felt the car whiz behind herand my dad was gone. I guesshe was flung right out of his shoes and the car mirror hit them ... hit my dad in the head."

Golden says herfather suffered afractured skull andbroke multiple bones, including both ankles. Her mothers injuries are less serious.

"It's very disconcerting to think that someone could drive away from that. There's no question he would have known he had hit them," said Golden."The impact on my dad took the mirror right off the car. So we are hoping somebody knows a black vehicle that was missing a mirror ... and maybe some people will come forward."

Abbotsford police are trying to piece together what happened using video surveillance footage.

"We've got somewhere in the order of 10different videos from businesses in the area," said Const. Ian MacDonald. "Idon't know if we'llbe releasing the video ... but certainly that is somethingwe will entertain."

Police are lookingfor a black 2014 to2016 Toyota Corolla with damage on the passenger side, especially to theside-viewmirror.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the AbbotsfordPolice Department.
