Police in North Vancouver are hoping to reunite abox of family memorabilia with its rightful owner.

"We're surmising this may have been stolen from a residence and discarded by thieves," said Cpl. Richard De Jong with North Vancouver RCMP.

It was found near the North Vancouver library and turned into police.

The box once contained Turtles chocolates, but somewhere along the way, somebodyfilled it with theirkeepsakes.

There are old photographs inside a black and white picture of a couple, another of a child, still another of a car. And there are handwritten letters dating back to 1912.

There is also an newspaper cutting of an obituary for Ronald Graham McEachern, dated July 2000.

"Obviously these things have no monetary value by themselves, but the emotional and historical significance of this wouldbe quite significant," said De Jong.

De Jong said alot of items end up in a police station, butthis is unique.

"We'd be more than happy to give it back to the rightful family member," he said.
