Ferrari driver charged after allegedly going 210 km/h on Lions Gate Bridge

A 22-year-old West Vancouver man has been charged with excessive speeding after allegedly driving a Ferrari 150 km/h over the speed limit on the Lions Gate Bridge.

Police say Yihao Wang was clocked going 210 km/h northbound on the bridge on July 4. The maximum posted speed on the bridge is 60 km/h.

"Excessive speed exposes all road users to extreme hazards," a statement from West Vancouver Police read. "West Vancouver Police join all our policing partners urging drivers to travel at safe speeds."

The Ferrari 458, worth roughly $300,000, has been impounded for 60 days and Wang has been given a 16-month driving prohibition.

Police said in July this is not his first run-in with police for speeding.

In April, he was ticketed after being pulled over by the same officer on the same bridge. Before that, he was ticketed twice for speeding in other jurisdictions.

Wang has a court appearance in North Vancouver scheduledfor Sept. 13.
