Fishermen still missing as boat found

A charter boat missing almost a week has been found off the B.C. coast but with no sign of the people who were on board.

A charter boat that's been missing for nearly a week has been found off the B.C. coast but arescue official says there's no sign of the four men who were on board.

"A sport fisherman in the area located the missing charter boat around eight nautical miles northwest of Brooks Peninsula," Gerry Pash of the Victoria Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre said Saturday. "There are no survivors or anybody nearby."

The six-metre aluminum boat was capsized but anchored when it was found, Pash said.

Pash said the coast guard, RCMP and air crews are continuing their search for the three fishermen and their guide. Theywere last seen Monday in Brooks Bay, shortly after leaving the Qualicum River Fishing Resort, on the west coast of Vancouver Island about 550 kilometres northwest of Victoria.

"There's going to be a detailed shoreline search in the area," said Capt. Quentin Wyne, also of the rescue centre.
