David Ramsay, a former B.C. judge jailed for sex crimes, has died in a New Brunswick prison at age 64.

The cause of death is not known but he was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year.

An official at the Dorchester Penitentiarywhere Ramsay was being held said he diedSaturday morning.

In 2004, David Ramsay was sentenced to seven years in prison after being convicted of breach of trust, buying sex from minors, and sexual assault causing bodily harm.

All of his victims were aboriginal girls, some as young as 12; many had appeared before him as defendants when he was a provincial court judge in Prince George.

He admitted to four sex-related charges.

Ramsay would have been freed on statutory release in January 2009.
