Found guns could link to B.C. shooting

Police have identified the victim of an apparently targeted shooting in Burnaby, B.C., Wednesday and say they have found two weapons that might be related to the crime.

Police have identified the victim of an apparently targeted shooting in Burnaby, B.C., Wednesday and say they have found two weapons that might be related to the crime.

The victim is a 27-year-old man known to police, but his name will not be made public until more family members have been notified, RCMP Cpl. Dale Carr said in a news release Thursday.

A resident of a neighbourhood near the scene of the slaying discovered two guns at the side of a road, Carr said.

The guns will be compared with evidence found at the murder scene to determine if they are linked to this or any other homicide, said Carr.

Police were called Wednesday afternoon to a laneway behind a dance studio at 7757 Edmonds St. in Burnaby after witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots.

A male victim was found dead, lying beside a black SUV in the studio parking lot.

Police have learned that the two males were wearing dark clothing and seen fleeing the area in a minivan, Carr said.

No arrests have been made.
