Man hospitalized after Granville Street stabbing in Vancouver B.C.

One man was sent to hospital after an early morning stabbing on Granville Street.

Police confirmed the stabbing resulted in non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses said the man was attacked around 2 a.m. PT in the 900 block of GranvilleSt.near Nelson Street.

Shaelyn Rea saidshe was sitting in front of a store when one of her friends told her to call police after finding a man lying on the ground.

"While I was holding the wound that was bleeding, I was telling him to stay focused on something else so he wouldn't be distracted by the pain," said Rea, describing herself as "in shock" over the grisly find.

Rea said she stayed andkept pressure on the man's wounds until an ambulance arrived.

"I'm pretty sure he's fine ... he was breathing, he's alive," she said.

It's not clear exactly how the man sustained his injuries, but he was taken to hospital in stable condition after first responders arrived.

Vancouver Police said no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing, but a vehicle believed to be associated with the attack was located.
