High winds cancel some BC Ferries trips

High winds forced have forced the the cancellation of several BC Ferries sailings early Thursday morning, affecting several routes in the Northern Gulf Islands.

High winds forced forced the the cancellation of several BC Ferries sailings early Thursday morning, affecting several routes in the Northern Gulf Islands.

The affected routes include:

  • Comox to Powell River,
  • Campbell River and Quadra Island
  • Quadra and Cortez Islands
  • Texada Island and Powell River

Sailings between Tsawwassen and the Southern Gulf Islands were also cancelled for about one hour on Thursday morning, but resumed shortly after 7 a.m. PT.

Environment Canada has issued a weather warning for the South Coast, advising southeast winds between 60 to 90 km/h are forecastfor the region into Thursday night.
