Homicides investigated in White Rock and Burnaby, B.C.

The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says it is working on two new cases after two men were killed in two Metro Vancouver cities Sunday.

The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is working on two new cases after two men were killed in two Metro Vancouver cities Sunday.

In White Rock, just after 7 p.m. PT a man was found dead just steps from the beachin his home in the 900-block of Ash Street.

RCMP officers came to the home inresponseto several 911 calls about afight. Two injured women were taken to hospital and released, but the injured man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A suspect was seen throwing knives and other objects from the home's balcony before running away.

White Rock RCMP tracked him and took him into custody ashort time later.

Police are recommending charges of assault causing bodily harm and second degree murder against the22-year-old man.

In a separate incident inBurnaby,a man was shot several times just after 10:30p.m. PTnear19thAvenue and 2nd Street. He died in hospital.

Police were out with dogs in the area, which is adjacent to Robert BurnabyPark, Monday morning.

IHIT Sgt. Jennifer Pound said the victim, a46-year-old manfrom Alberta, was known to police.

While this investigation is in the very early stages, IHIT can confirm that evidence gathered thus far suggests this to be a targeted attack, she said.

IHIT said it may have furtherupdates on bothcases, which are unrelated, later Monday.
