ICBC Dial-a-Claim calls spike amid snowy week

The number of claims rose this week after the South Coast saw its biggest dump of snow in years.

Average daily call volume was 2,811 last year but on Monday it was 5,176

Dial-a-Claim calls to ICBC were way up after the South Coast saw a dump of snow earlier this week.

Surprise flurries onMonday bungled up the morning commute, causing problems for cars and buses alike. ICBC saw 84 per cent more calls than normal that day.

The corporation said Friday that most of the claims came from Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland theregions that saw the most snow.

The number of calls for theweek were as follows:

  • Monday, Dec. 5 5,176.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 6 4,248.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 7 3,942.
  • Thursday, Dec. 8 3,573.
  • Friday, Dec. 9 386 (as of 10 a.m.).

Over the past year, the average number of calls per day was 2,811.
