Many kids growing up in the 90sdreamed of joining the Power Rangers and defending their hometown ofAngel Grove from the forces ofRita Repulsa.

Mike Loukopoulos may never get a chance to actually join the fictional team of superheroes, but he will appear alongside them as an extra in the new Power Rangers movie being shot in downtown Kamloops.

"Never in a million years would I have thought that I'd be an extra in a movie in Kamloops, let alone for a franchise that I've been following since I've been a young one," he told Daybreak Kamloops host Shelley Joyce. "It's pretty cool."

Loukopoulos was one of hundreds of local residents who applied to be in the film. The scenes he's in will be digitally composited to create scenes of Angel Groveunder attack, says film spokespersonErnie Malick.

"They told me nothing about the story. They're very tight-lipped about everything, which in a way is good, because I don't want any spoilers at the end of the day,"Loukopoulos said.

The movieis in the midst of a six-day shoot in Kamloops.
