Kitsilano shooting was targeted: police

Vancouver police say the city's latest shooting appears to be another targeted gang hit, after an unidentified 28-year-old man was shot and wounded Sunday night in Vancouver's normally quiet Kitsilano neighbourhood.

Vancouver police say the city's latest shooting appears to be another targeted gang hit, after an unidentified 28-year-old man was shot and wounded Sunday night in Vancouver's normally quiet Kitsilano neighbourhood.

"We believe this is a targeted shooting. It has the earmarks of a gang shooting. But we are not making the definitive links just yet in the investigation," said Const. Jana McGuinness onMonday morning.

A witness told CBC News that two men exchanged eight to 12 gunshots in the parking lot of the IGA on Broadway near Arbutus Street at 11:05 p.m. PT.

One man fled the scene on foot, and the other was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds a short time later.

Police said the victim was in stable condition and was not co-operating with police. No arrests have been made.

The shooting was at least the sixth incident of gun violence in the Lower Mainland in a week. Police have confirmed at least three of the shootings were targeted attacks.
