Licensed grow-op was site of Walnut Grove shooting: RCMP

Langley RCMP says yesterday's shooting and assaultthat injured two people in Walnut Grove took place at a licensed medical marijuana grow operation.

A large area in North Langley was on lockdown Sunday afternoon after reports of shots fired came in from the area nearthe8300 block of 216 Street just after 3:30 p.m. PT.

Two men with links to the grow-op where the attack took placewere taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One had been shot; the other, assaulted.

Meanwhile, the suspect or suspects had fled to the west into a neighbouring subdivision.

The Lower Mainland's RCMP police dog service,emergencyresponse team and policefrom Surrey joined the Langley Mounties in launching a manhunt in the area, which ended with an arrest after an intense foot chase.

Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks said a firearm was seized by police, and several other arrests were made.

Police were back in the area on Monday with a search warrant in order to access the property where the shooting and assault took place.

"We will conduct a fullsearch of the residence and perhaps there'smore shell casings or information that we can gather that way as evidence towards the offences that we've got laid now," she said.

Marks said a 23-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, both from Surrey and both of whom are previously known to police, were taken into custody.

The 29-year-old man facescharges ofbreak and enter, robbery with a firearm, discharge of a firearm with intent,aggravated assault,assault causing bodily harm andunauthorized possession of a firearm.

The 23-year-old woman faces charges of being party to a robbery with a firearm, and being aparty to a break and enter.

Charges may be laid against a 22-year-old man from Surrey who has been released from custody, Marks said.
