Young women safe after night spent lost above Lions Bay

Lions Bay SAR said the two missing women, both believed to be 19, walked out to the highway Wednesday afternoon.

Two women who spent the night in the wilderness above Lions Bay have been found safe.

Lions Bay SAR said the hikers were able to walk out to the highway Wednesday afternoon. They hadn't returned from a hike as expected on Tuesday evening, andcrews had been searching for the pairin the area leading up to the West Lion peak.

Assistant search managerSandroFrei said both are believed to be 19 years old.

Their parents reported them missing Tuesday night. Frei said their vehicle was found at a trailhead that leads to several hiking routes.
