Love lock survey to decide new sculpture location in Vancouver

The Vancouver Park Board wants to get a lock on where the city would like to see a love lock sculpture installed.

Park board has proposed 13 locations, but is also open to other suggestions

The Vancouver Park Board wants to get a lock on where the city would like to see a love lock sculpture installed.

It has launched a survey that asks Vancouverites to vote on 13 locations including Kits Beach, English Bay and Queen Elizabeth Park suggest another location or register their dislike for the whole idea.

The park board promises it will hire a local artist to create a unique, sitespecific art installation for the winning location.

  • Robson Park
  • Vanier Park

Love locks are popular and controversial throughout the world. Installations in Paris and New York were removed for safety reasons.

In Vancouver, city engineers haveremoved locks from theBurrardBridgeand chain link fences at the Plaza of Nations citing safety concerns.

The survey will be open until Sept. 16.
