Man dead after Maple Ridge apartment fire

A man hasdied after a fire broke out at the Urbano apartment complex on 224th Street in Maple Ridge.

It happened around 11 a.m. PT on Sunday and was contained to one unit.

"The tenant from that unit suffered injuries from the fire and he was airlifted to Vancouver General hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries," said Staff Sgt. Phil Neetz with Ridge Meadows RCMP.

Neetz says no one else was hurt in the fire. Investigators are working to determine its cause.
