Man injured in Prince George drive-by shooting

A 19-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds in a drive-by shooting in downtown Prince George, B.C., Wednesday night.

A 19-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds in a drive-by shooting in downtown Prince George, B.C., Wednesday night.

Prince George RCMP have identified a number of people they believe were involved inthe incident, but no arrests have been made, Const. Leslie Dix said Thursday.

Policesaid the shooting was related to gang activity.

"There is a rise in violence with weapons due to the gang-related warfare that's out there," Dix told CBC News in a telephone interview.

"Not only are the victims targeted, but there are innocent bystanders in such a highly populated area."

At least three nearby cars were hit with bullets, police said.

The victim, who has not been identified, remained in hospital in serious condition Thursday, Dix said.
