Maple Ridge stabbing victim, 45, dies in hospital

A 45-year-old man died in hospital in New Westminster after being stabbed early this morning in Maple Ridge, B.C.

Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is taking over the case, RCMP confirm

Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a call about a stabbing in the area of Dewdney Trunk Road and 223 Street shortly after midnight. The victim, a 45-year-old man, was taken to hospital in New Westminster, but died of his injuries. IHIT is taking over investigation. (CBC)

A 45-year-old man died in hospital in New Westminster after being stabbed early this morning in Maple Ridge, B.C.

Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a call about a stabbing in the area of Dewdney Trunk Road and 223 Street shortly after midnight. The victim, a 45-year-old man, was taken to hospital in New Westminster, but died of his injuries. IHIT is taking over investigation. (CBC)

Ridge Meadows RCMP spokesman Const. Mike Moore said police found the victim in the area of Dewdney Trunk Road and 223 Street shortly after midnight.

The man was taken by ambulance to Royal ColumbianHospital, but died from his injuries.

Air and police dog support were used in a subsequent search of the area.

Moore said theLower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has takenover the case.
