4-vehicle collision north of Kamloops leaves senior dead and 3 others injured

A fatal crash near McLure, B.C., on Wednesday afternoon saw four vehiclescollide in snowy conditions, leaving one person dead and three others injured.

One person died and three others were injured in afour-vehicle crash amid snowy conditions on Highway 5 north of Kamloops, B.C., on Wednesday afternoon.

The RCMP says the incident happened around3 p.m. PT near McLure, B.C. The highway was closed overnight as a resultand reopened Thursday morning.

Investigators say two transport trucks collided head-on, with two other vehicles also involved in the crash.

A passenger in the northbound truck, who was a senior in her 70s, died due to the collision, while the driversuffered serious injuries, according to Mounties.

The driver of the southbound truck was uninjured, while the drivers of the two other vehicles suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Cpl. Mike Halskov, with the B.C. Highway Patrol, said in a statement the cause of the collision is not yet known, but that the weather, as well as the state of the road, arebelieved to be contributing factors.
