Mountie faces 3rd assault charge

A Surrey RCMP officer already facing two counts of assault now faces another assault charge in a separate incident.

A Surrey, B.C.,RCMP officer already facing two counts of assault now faces another assault charge in a separate incident, the force revealed Wednesday.

Const. Imran Saeed pulled over a female motorist for a traffic violation in February 2009 and the woman allegesshe was assaulted by the officer, Cpl. Annie Linteau said in arelease.

Saeed is already facing two counts of assault stemming from a May 2009 on-duty incident.

Saeed is scheduled to make his first court appearance July 15in Surrey provincial court overthe latest charge. Court proceedingsrelated tothe May 2009 incident are ongoing and a trial has tentatively been scheduled for June 21, 2011.

Linteau said Saeed has been placed on administrative duties pending the outcome ofthe criminal process andan RCMP internalinvestigation.
