Mt. Seymour, Cypress Mountain close for ski season

Mt. Seymour and Cypress Mountain announced Monday that their ski resorts were closing early after a dismal season of meagre snowfall.

"We made a huge amount of quality snow during the season but got virtually wiped out on four separate occasions with unearthly amounts of rain," Cypress said in an email to season passholders.

"We always held onto hope that a dump of snow was just around the corner ... alas,it hasnt come yet.

"Were of course disappointed in the season overall and we recognize that the quality of the snow sports experience on many days was not the norm for Cypress Mountain."

Mt. Seymor has been on standby and was operating itsMystery Peak Express and the Goldie Magic Carpet simultaneously for 12 days. It's now offering season passholdersan 88 per cent credit towards the next season.

Meanwhile Cypress is offering passholders a 80 per cent credit for the early bird deadline. Cross country and snowshoe passholderswill get a full 100 per cent rollover for the upcoming season, subject to a $5 reactivation fee.
