IHIT investigating after suspicious death in Surrey

An adult was found unresponsive in a Surrey, B.C. laneway on Sunday morning. Investigators say they later died from their injuries. (CBC)

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been calledtoa suspicious death in Surrey's Newton neighbourhood.

RCMP found an unresponsive adultin a laneway near the 6900 block of 127A Street just before 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. A statement said the person later died of their injuries and their death is being treated as suspicious.

IHITdid not say what kind of injuries the person had suffered or if the incident was targeted.

Thearea around the laneway will be taped off for "a significant amount oftime" Sunday as investigators gather evidence.
