North Vancouver teacher, Chad Smith, charged with sexual exploitation

Police have charged a man who taught at a North Vancouver high school with sexual exploitation of a female student.

Police say charge applies to authority figures who sexually assault a minor

Police have charged a man who taught at a North Vancouver high school with sexual exploitation of a female student.

North Vancouver RCMP allege a39-year-old male teacher assaulted the student for more than two years, from October 2012 to December 2014.

Chad Jeremy Smith of Langley, B.C. was arrested Aug. 27, and charged with one count of sexual exploitation, according to a police statement.

The charge applies to authority figures accused of sexually assault a minor, police said.

Smith is scheduled to appear in North Vancouver court on Sept. 9. He has been released from custody with conditions.
