One man was taken to hospital with stab wounds after a fight broke out on Granville Street early Saturday morning.

The attack happened outside the Ramada Inn just after 2 a.m.

"I thought he was drunk at first, but then I realized he'd been stabbed," said Chris Campbell, who was in a nearby pub when he heard the fight going on outside.

"I'm not a hero ... someone's down, you go in and help. There's nothing heroic about that," said Campbell, who put pressure on the victim's wounds. (Gian-Paolo Mendoza/CBC)

Campbell rushedoutside and immediately started putting pressure on the victim's wounds after seeing the man lying on the ground bleeding.

"People don't react really quickly they're looking around wondering what they should do, but if someone's bleeding, you just apply pressure," he said. "So that's what I did."

First responders arrived and continued to treat the man for stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, but in stable condition.
