Man injured in Prince George bear attack

A man has been taken to hospital after he was attacked by a bear in a popular park in Prince George, B.C.

A man was taken to hospitalwith minor injuries after he was attacked by a bear in a popular park in Prince George, B.C.

RCMPCpl. CraigDouglasssays the attack happened at about 4:15p.m. PT, Tuesday at Shane Lake in the Forests forthe World parknear the University of Northern B.C.

On Wednesday, conservation officers said a sow and her two cubshad been located in the area; the sow was shot but the cubs were tranquilized and relocated to a wildlife shelter.

Police say the 46-year-old man was walking his dog when the attack happened.

He sustained minor,non-life-threatening injuries.

  • An earlier version of this story said the sow and her cub were euthanized. In fact, conservation officers clarified only the sow was killed, while her two cubs were relocated to a wildlife shelter.
