In South Surrey, the Nicomekl Riveroverflowed near the Highway 99 overpass.

The nearby Serpentine River is expected to flood as well.

There are also concerns about more widespread flooding over the weekend as an intense rainstorm pounds southwestern B.C.

Environment Canada is forecasting up to 110 mm of rain by Saturday, with even more rain expected on the North Shore mountains.

A high streamflow advisory has been issued for Greater Vancouver, the Lower Fraser Valley and Howe Soundby B.C.'s River Forecast Centre.

SpokesmanAllan Chapman warns that there will be more flooding by Saturday morning.

"Because the tide is low today at 4 p.m. and then rising to a very high tide Saturday just before noon, [it] means that those rivers will start to rise tonight after dark, they will rise all throughout the night and will more than likelybe experiencing flooding sometime before breakfast Saturday."

Heavy rainfall warnings have also been issued for the West Coast of Vancouver Island. But Chapman said rivers on the east side of the Island are not expected to flood.
