Rainfall warning in effect for inland Vancouver Island

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for inland Vancouver Island, which could cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

River Forecast Centre is maintaining flood warnings and high streamflow advisory in the area

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for inland Vancouver Island, which it says could cause flash floodingand water pooling on roads.

"A Pacific frontal system will bring heavy rain to the West Vancouver Island, Inland and North Vancouver Island regions once again for tonight and tomorrow," says the warning.

"The front will move inland late Sunday."

The region has already seenflood-inducing rainfall most of the week.

It says the ground is already near saturation because of the recent rainfall.

The River Forecast Centre is maintainingits flood warnings for the Campbell River, andSproatand Somassrivers near Port Alberni.

There is also a high streamflow advisory in effect forCentral Vancouver Island and the Courtenay (Puntledge) rivers.

The Tseshaht First Nation near Port Alberni already had to evacuate several homes earlier this week because of flooding.
