RCMP investigate targeted shooting in Surrey

Surrey RCMP are investigating what they believe was a targeted shooting that involved two vehicles Saturday evening.

Surrey RCMP are investigating what they believe to be a targetedshooting involving two vehicles Saturday evening.

At 6:26 p.m., police responded to multiple 911 calls of shots being heard in the areaof142ndStreet and64thAvenue.

Witnesses at the scene said that two vehicles drove off, and it appeared that the occupants of one vehicle were shooting at the other.

Police found an abandoned white Ford pickup truckwith bullet holes, which matched the description of one of the vehicles. The other vehicle was described as a smaller car.

Targeted shooting

"At this point, we believe that the incident was targeted," said Staff Sgt. Murray Heddersonof Surrey RCMP.

"We don't know the exact number of shots that were taken at this point, we haven't had any reports of anything being hit that we're aware of, other than one pickup truck."

Heddersonalsosaid he has not received any reports thatanyone was injured in the shooting.

Policelocated a number of shell casings in the area, as well as casings near142ndSt. and64thAvenue.

Officers canvassed the neighbourhood looking for more evidence, and are speaking with witnesses for further information.
