Replacement vessel in place for Powell River-Comox route

BC Ferries has brought in a temporary vessel to replace the Queen of Burnaby on the Comox-Powell River route.

The North Island Princess is scheduled to make four return trips a day on Feb. 7, 8, and 9, but will only be able to carry 49 vehicles and 140 passengers. It also has limited food, elevator and washroom facilities.

"BC Ferries will be providing a limited 15 passenger shuttle service for service between Little River Terminal and Comox or Courtenay to assist those foot passengers travelling to essential appointments in these communities only," said a statement issued by the ferry corporation.

The Queen of Burnaby was pulled off the route because of mechanical problems on Monday.
