Sea-to-Sky Highway re-opened after closure

The Sea-to-Sky Highway between Vancouver and Whistler has been re-opened following a fatal head-on collision.

The Sea-to-Sky Highway between Vancouver and Whistlerhas been re-opened followinga fatal head-on collision.

One person died whenatruck and a car collided at about 6 p.m. PT near Murrin Provincial Park, about 55 kilometres north of Vancouver and 10 kilometres south of Squamish.

A third vehicle was also involved in the accident, according to Squamish RCMP.

No names have been released.

The twisting highway along the side of B.C.'s Coast Mountains has a history ofdeadly traffic accidents and landslides.

It is also the major route between Vancouver and Whistler and has undergone a $600-million upgrade in preparation for the 2010 Olympics.
