Man airlifted to hospital after avalanche at SilverStar Mountain Resort

In a statement, the resort said the incident occurred just after 12 p.m. PT. Wednesday on a double-black-diamond run located on SilverStar's Putnam Creek.

The resort said it has closed Putnam Creek as a result of the incident

A man had to be airlifted off SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon, B.C., after an avalanche.

In a statement, the resort said the incident occurred just after 12 p.m. PTWednesday on a double-black-diamond run located on SilverStar's Putnam Creek.

Putnam Creek is described by the resort as on the mountain's "backside." A double-black-diamond run is considered extremely difficult for experts only.

The injured man was taken to hospital by B.C. Air Ambulance.

The resort said it has closed Putnam Creek as a result of the incident and its runs will be closed until further notice.
