Victoria man arrested for taking ferry joyride detained again after glass-smashing spree
Windows in at least 14 Victoria buildings were broken early Wednesday morning
The man who was arrested for taking a Victoria harbour ferry on a joyride Tuesday was arrested again this time forallegedly smashing the windows of at least 14 different buildingsearly Wednesday morning.
Victoria Police say they were first alerted to the glass-smashing spree after the alarm went off in an apartment onthe 1700-block of Cook Street after midnight. Officers found the front door window shatteredby a rock.
Over the next hour and a half, officers foundseveral other businesses withwindows brokenby rocks or other objects.
At 2 a.m., police received reports thata man was smashing windows with a large wooden pole at a restaurant on Pandora Avenue.
Though the suspect made a run for it, police were able to arrest him shortly after.
Police believe there could be other damaged buildingsand ask anyonewho may have been affectedto report any damage.
Police say they are recommending chargesof mischief and breach of an undertaking against the suspect, whose name has not been disclosed.
The investigation is ongoing.
