Snowfall warning ended for Metro Vancouver

Environment Canada has suspended asnowfall warning for Metro Vancouver.

Parts of Burnaby,Coquitlam, Port Moody and other LowerMainland communities are seeingthe effectsof the"intense Pacific frontal system" expected over the Central Coast overnight, waking to a layer of fresh powder.

Vancouver Island's north end is also blanketed, as well as Squamish and parts of the interior.

Environment Canada officials are also warning people to"prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions."

The warning comeson one of the heaviest travel days of the year, with many people heading home after spending Christmas with friends or relatives.

Avalanche warnings are in effect for the Sea-to-Sky region and North Shore Mountains.

Trucks are being ordered to use chains along Highway 3B and Highway 22 near Rossland and Trail B.C.
