More snow lands on East Vancouver Island and parts of Metro Vancouver

East Vancouver Island and parts of the Fraser Valley were hit with more snow overnight.

East Vancouver Island and parts of the Fraser Valley were hit withmore snow overnight.

Environment Canada reported heavy snow this morning on East Vancouver Island with some areas receiving up to 10 centimetres.

The agency has lifted the warnings, but road conditions are still icy.

Overnight, DriveBCreported slushy conditions on Highway 1 from Ladysmith to Nanaimo.

In the Fraser Valley, Langley fire crews had a busy night attending multiple calls on the TransCanadaHighway.A number of drivers had spun out into the ditch due to slick roads.

There wereno reports of any serious injuries, although traffic on the highway was slowfor much of the night.

The snow comes in a system moving down to the South Coast from the north, which could potentially bring more snow early this week.

Environment Canada predicts it will turn to rain by Wednesday.Pacific weather systems are expected to bring milder air and rain to the region.

Elevated pollution levels in North Okanagan

Meanwhile, Environment Canada has also issued a special air quality statement for the North Okanagan.

It says stagnant winter weather conditions are creating elevated pollution levels and that vulnerable people should postpone strenuous exercise until conditions change.

"The Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the Interior Health Authority, has issued a dust advisory for Vernon due to high concentrations of coarse particulates," said the statement.
